Today has been an emotional time in that we are sort of heading home. Early this morning we left Victoria on a little plane to Vancouver, and now I am writing this blog in a Boeing 777-300 at 10,000 metres over the Bering Sea, just West of Alaska, having left a nice sunny Canada behind. Ron and Linda were in Vancouver to see us off.
Shortly we lose a whole day, seemingly making the remainder of our holiday even shorter. Later we will land in Hong Kong, then onto Macau.

During the last week we have continued to explore the Eastern coast of Vancouver Island with Ron and Linda. We even met up again with our hosts and wonderful friends Sheila and Donna from Edmonton who were visiting the Island during our time there.
We took opportunities to hike through a variety of Provincial Parks, seeing lake, rivers and coastline. I even played golf, with a good score,…I found as many golf ball as I lost. Meanwhile, Kaye went to a fashion parade. With a blown budget, limited luggage weight flexibility, and the fact that they were winter season clothes, Kaye was content to just look.

On Saturday we took our hire car back to Victoria and joined our new hosts Lawrence (exchange teacher, 2010) and Felicity. Of course, the grand tour of the district was in order, so we explored even more of the downtown area.
Next day we visited the world acclaimed Butchart Gardens. For anyone with a love of gardens and flowers, this is just a great place to be. A couple of pictures included.
